Prospekt's March EP & European Shows

Prospekt\'s March
The new EP from Coldplay is out now, featuring 6 new songs and 2 remixes. I co-produced the tracks Life In Technicolor II and the title track Prospekt's March, and contributed electronics and various keyboard instruments to Glass Of Water and Lost +. You can get it anywhere. More info at coldplay.com.

Also you may have noticed that Insides has appeared on UK itunes - it is up for a limited time only, to make it available for these current shows. There is a proper vinyl, cd and download release scheduled for March next year, with a single in February. Sorry this is later than announced.

Finally I have a couple of European shows coming up. The first is a live performance at the Warp Records showcase, as part of the Eurosonic festival in Groningen, Holland, on the 15th of January. Also features Tim Exile, Hudson Mohawke, Jackson And His Computer Band.

The second is a performance at the Club Transmediale festival in Berlin, on the 29th January, alongside Micachu And The Shapes, Tim Exile and Fuck Buttons.

Live shows in November and December

Vince Collins still 1

I have some more live shows coming up... firstly three live performances of "Entity" with Random Dance at the Het Muziekthieter in Amsterdam, on the 6th, 8th and 9th of November. Tickets can be bought here.

Then I'm very pleased to be joining Coldplay again as live support, on all the dates of their US and UK tour, from the 11th of November until the 23rd of December. Places, dates, tickets and info at www.coldplay.com.

The image above is a still from the visuals I have been using at recent shows - Nexus Productions introduced me to the work of legendary artist Vince Collins, who made some of the most extraordinary and psychedelic single-cell animations I've ever seen. Vince kindly allowed me to use a selection of his works from the 70s and 80s in my live show, and genius editor Matt Kitchin was responsible for fitting them to the music. I'll be playing with these visuals at all upcoming live shows.

September 2008

The Holy Pictures

I have a couple of collaborations out this month. First up is the new album by David Holmes The Holy Pictures , which is out now on Mercury. It is his first solo album since 2000's Bow Down To The Exit Sign. I co-wrote the track "The Ballad of Sarah and Jack" with David and contributed some piano and electronics to a few other tracks on the album. You can listen to some previews at his myspace here.

Secondly, James Yorkston's new album When The Haar Rolls In is out now on Domino. The special limited edition boxset of the album comes with a cd of cover versions, from bands including The Archie Bronson Outfit, Viking Moses, Nancy Elizabeth, King Creosote and loads more. I contributed a version of his track "Heron". You can get the boxset direct from Domino here and listen to some previews here.

I will also be doing a one-off headline show at the Luminaire on the 14th of October, with the fantastic Milosh supporting. You can get tickets from We Got Tickets here. More details about the night can be found at the Club AC30 website here.

Viva La Vida

Viva La Vida

The new Coldplay album Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends is out on 12th June. I worked on the album as one of the co-producers for much of last year, and contributed some sounds and various keyboard instruments. An adapted version of my new track Light Through The Veins also appears as the intro to the first track Life In Technicolour, and as the backing for the track hidden at the end, The Escapist.

I am also supporting them for the first three shows of the Viva La Vida tour:

16th June : Brixton Academy, London
17th June : Espacio Movistar, Barcelona
23rd June : Madison Square Garden, New York

I will be playing stuff from my next album. You can hear a few track previews now at my myspace page here. There will also be some amazing animation accompanying the new show, details of which I will post soon.

The Fourth State EP out now

Sounds Asleep

My new EP The Fourth State is out now on CD. It consists of a single 32 minute "true ambient" track that I made in 2002, and is available only from new label Sounds Asleep.

Some stuff about the label: "Sounds Asleep is a micro-independent web label established in october 2007. We release hand-crafted releases in limited runs, focusing on interesting design or unusual packaging and quality home-made recordings dealing in ambient, electronica, drone and noise from a range of undergound acts from the UK and further afield."

You can only get it direct from Sounds Asleep here.

Some festival dates this summer:

The Big Chill (LIVE)
Field Day (DJ)
Bestival (LIVE)

More will be announced soon, plus some European dates with Random Dance.

Random Dance shows in April

Entity
I will be playing live at London's Sadler's Wells on the 10th, 11th and 12th, as part of Random Dance's new show Entity. I have written new music specifically for the show, some of which will be released on my next album, which I hope to finish one day. You can buy tickets direct from the venue here. Here is some official press stuff:

Multi award-winning Wayne McGregor is renowned for his fierce, physically testing choreography and ground-breaking collaborations. On Thursday 10 April 2008 at Sadler’s Wells, McGregor presents the world premiere of Entity, his first production in two years for his recently re-titled company, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance. A diptych of two contrasting works performed by ten dancers and set to live music, Entity follows the electrifying performances of Chroma, McGregor’s Olivier Award-winning work created for The Royal Ballet in 2006.

For Entity, Wayne McGregor has commissioned music by two of the most exciting new talents on each side of the Atlantic; composers Nico Muhly and Jon Hopkins. For the two contrasting pieces, Philip Glass and Björk collaborator Nico Muhly’s propulsive string quartet, performed live by recent Wigmore Hall debutants The Navarra Quartet, is pitched against the sonic extremes of Jon Hopkins’s schizophrenic electronica. Entity is performed against a multi-screen installation created by Linbury award-winning set designer Patrick Burnier whose theatre credits include, The Brothers Size (Young Vic/ATC), Reverence (London Bridge Station Vaults, Southwark Playhouse) and Gaudeamus and Carver (Arcola). Ravi Deepres’s film/video for the installations is lit by the virtuoso designer Lucy Carter, whose long-standing working relationship with Wayne McGregor | Random Dance reaches its 16th year in 2008.
